An important note from Juliana: I have a friend named Meg. Some of you may know her as “Maggie” from my book. She brought me to my first all-ages show (the Violent Femmes opening for the Del Fuegos at Storyville in Kenmore Square sometime in the 1980’s) when I was in high school and she turned me on to lots and lots of cool and important/influential/inspirational/ass-kicking music (including Minor Threat, the Replacements, the first REM EP, Black Flag, and X!). I was at a very impressionable and angsty age when Meg came into my life and she was a kind and loving and generous friend when I desperately needed one. Meg’s 20-year-old stepson Bryce was recently in an accident that has left him paralyzed. If anyone cares to donate to a tax-free fund for Bryce’s long-term care, please check out his page at www.transplantfund.org. There you can get the full story of Bryce’s accident and updates on his recovery progress. If you donate through the transplant fund website, please write "in honor of Bryce Rafferty" on your check or indicate this on the site, to make sure the money goes to him. I’m doing this because Meg helped me a lot and now I want to do what I can to help her family. Give whatever you can, if you feel the urge. Thank you.
